Podgorica, Montenegro (14 February 2014) -- Montenegro's Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted Thursday Director General of the Italian company A2A Renato Ravanelli for talks on current and future operations of the Electric Power Industry of Montenegro (EPCG).

It was noted that good partnerships between the Government and the A2A should be enhanced in order to overcome challenges and focus on new development projects.

Special attention was given to issues that burdened the partnership over the past period and both sides pledged commitment to putting an end to the problems.

The meeting agreed on the need to strengthen the partnership through positive operation results and implementation of projects of mutual interest, particularly referring to the construction of the Block II of the Thermal Power Plant Pljevlja, as well as hydropower plants.

PM Đukanović and Director General Ravanelli also discussed the conditions for supplying the Aluminium Plant Podgorica (KAP) with electricity capacity of 84 MW necessary for the production of 50,000 tons of aluminium per year. They also addressed the issue of rationalising business operations by reducing costs and network losses, and by increasing electricity collection rate.

Both sides agreed on to continue communication about the extension of cooperation after the management contract expires.
